Child safety
is a major concern for all parents. It begins the moment you bring your child home from the hospital in an infant safety seat. A study performed between 1998 and 2006 found that children under the age of 3 were 43% less likely to be injured in a car crash if their infant seat was fastened in the center of the back seat rather than on one side. However, the center of the seat is the least used by parents. Also, according to The Consumer Product Safety Commission, approximately 2.5 million children are injured each year by dangers in their own home. This is why childproofing is so important. Installing smoke alarms in the home is another vital safety precaution - not just for children, but for the whole family. According to FEMA, approximately 2,500 children were injured or killed in fires in 2002. More than half of those were under the age of five.
